This week’s Maker is Drake’s, the English heritage brand founded in 1977 by Michael Drake. The brand brings years of experience to the world of menswear and has the awards to prove it, including the Queen’s Award for Export and the UK Fashion Export Gold Award. Its fall collection is a polished essay on color, pattern and texture.
What: Drake’s F/W 14
Shoot Location: Haberdasher Factory, London.
Concept: “We never really approach our seasonal collections with a concept per se. Rather we like to collate a wearable collection that is both practical and yet stylish. I guess in certain instances the larger pieces in the collection, e.g. knitwear, tailoring, will be influenced by the developments for our tie collection—this, of course, being the heart and soul of who we are. We chose to shoot the lookbook both in and around our Haberdasher Factory, as these areas are where Drake's has ‘grown up’ in its 37-year-history, ie. Shoreditch and Clerkenwell.”—Jamie Ferguson, Online Editor.
